Jean Van Hoof
Jean Van Hoof has been a dedicated teacher at VNS for 12 years, sharing her passion for early childhood education and making a meaningful impact on young lives. She holds an undergraduate degree from Saint Anselm College and a Master’s in Early Childhood Education from the University of Saint Joseph. Before joining VNS, Jean taught preschool in West Hartford and spent seven years in the Farmington Public School system while pursuing her degree..
A resident of Farmington, Jean loves the special connection she forms with each child and family, treasuring every moment of growth and learning. She lives with her husband, Tom, and their two amazing daughters. Her favorite activities include visiting the beach and enjoying the outdoors in any way possible.
Jean’s favorite children’s book is Courage by Bernard Waber, a story she loves sharing for its message of self-acceptance and bravery. If she could have a superpower, she’d choose to fly! And when it comes to dessert, nothing beats a chocolate and peanut butter bomb. Jean’s warm spirit, experience, and love for teaching make her an invaluable part of the VNS family.

Marilee Dabkowski
Marilee Dabkowski has been a beloved Pre-K teacher at VNS for four years, bringing her passion for early childhood education and her extensive teaching experience to every classroom moment. With degrees in Early Childhood Education, Child Studies, and Liberal Arts, Marilee has previously taught at Renbrook School in West Hartford, Chase Collegiate in Waterbury, and Preschool on the Green in Middlebury.
Marilee lives in Middlebury, CT, with her husband of 49 years, Allan. They are proud parents to three children—Brian, Paul (and his wife, Angela), and Lauren—and grandparents to two grandsons, Joey and Teddy. Her favorite part of working at VNS? “Everything!” she says, from the inspiring colleagues and wonderful families to the beautiful school environment.
Marilee’s favorite place to visit is Block Island, and when she’s not traveling, she loves nothing more than being at home surrounded by her family. A true lover of children’s literature, Marilee has too many favorite books to name! Her warmth, experience, and enthusiasm make her an invaluable part of the VNS family.

Jennifer Wagner
Jennifer Wagner has been a dedicated member of the VNS community for seven years, bringing both expertise and a love for learning that inspires her young students. She holds a BS in Education from Marietta College and a Master’s in Curriculum and Design from Fordham University, with a specialization in early childhood education. Before joining VNS, Jennifer served as a special education teacher and program director for several schools in New York City, gaining extensive experience in supporting diverse learners.
Now living in Farmington with her husband, Christofer, and their three children—Ethan, Edward, and Ellarose—Jennifer stays active in her community as a coach for Farmington High School. Her dream travel destination is Greece, and she’d never be without books, sunscreen, and snacks if she found herself on a desert island! Jennifer’s favorite part of VNS is the excitement each child brings to school, a joy that keeps her energized and deeply committed to her work. With her warmth, creativity, and dedication, Jennifer is a beloved part of our team!

Song Kim
With a degree in Child and Adolescent Development from San Francisco State University, Song Kim brings a wealth of experience to her fourth year at VNS. Before joining our team, she worked at the Early Childhood Education Center in San Francisco and at Academy School in South Korea, where she developed a deep commitment to fostering young children's growth and creativity.
Originally from Korea, Song has a special love for her homeland, which she enjoys visiting with her husband, a Taekwondo master based in Simsbury, and their spirited two-year-old son. Now settled in Bristol, Song cherishes Connecticut's distinct seasons—from admiring spring flowers to strolling through autumn leaves. Her favorite storytime reads include The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, and The Giving Tree—classics she loves sharing with her students. Song's dedication, warmth, and passion for early education make her an invaluable part of the VNS community!
